The British Academy

The British Academy is delighted to announce the appointment of London-based caterers FoodShow to take over the cuisine at its headquarters on Carlton House Terrace in the centre of the capital.

The appointment marks a new direction for the Academy, as it expands to create a larger venue to appeal to the wedding, corporate and charity markets. Until now, the site has predominantly been utilised by educational, charitable and Government organisations.

FoodShow, headed by owner Andrew Gosling, will start the contract today, Monday 28 June and immediately begin overhauling current menus to introduce packages and choices to suit every taste and budget.

From roast loin of English Lamb Wellington with confit garlic pommes puree, to their signature canapé of miniature steak and chips with a warm béarnaise; and roast fillet of black cod with Scottish langoustine to Prosecco and elderflower jelly with Kent strawberries, emphasis will be put on quality, using only the freshest, seasonal ingredients.

Last month, the Academy embarked on major redevelopment work to extend its Grade-one listed, Georgian headquarters at 10 Carlton House Terrace into the next door building, former Prime Minister William Gladstone’s residence, No.11. The work will take six months to complete and provide the Academy with new areas for hire including Gladstone’s music room and a new state-of-the-art auditorium.

Charles Howard, Hospitality and Business Development Manager, the British Academy said:

“We are delighted to welcome FoodShow into the Academy, and excited about the interest this appointment will generate. This personable and well-respected London catering firm impressed us at every stage, and in turn is sure to impress clients and guests to 10-11 Carlton House Terrace over the coming months.

“With imaginative and creative combinations of flavours, tastes and styles to suit all palates, we look forward to magnificent new food to match our magnificent newly expanded venue.”

Andrew Gosling, Owner, FoodShow said:

“This is a very exciting time for both Food Show and the British Academy, and the moment I saw the space I knew this was the perfect place to showcase our amazing food. It is such a central location, and with the addition of number 11 and having the added bonus of the enclosed garden, I have no doubt that this will become one of the most exciting and popular spaces in London.”

A continuous focus on what we wanted, excellent service that went that extra mile, outstanding quality of food and flexibility - all of which made our wedding perfect. All our guests were impressed - I highly recommend them to anyone.
